FAQs

How long does the claim process take?

Charterhouse has won claims in as little as 4 weeks, however the length of the claim can vary significantly. From when we first contact your lender to file a formal claim for compensation, the time taken for them to respond can vary and some Lenders are known to extend the process. However, lenders are required to deal with PPI complaints within 8 – 12 weeks. If we do not reach a satisfactory conclusion within that time we may recommend referring your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). Unfortunately this can add several months to the process and can in some cases take up to 2 years, but the majority of PPI cases that we take to FOS are awarded in the consumer’s favour.

How much does it cost?

We do not charge any upfront costs for our services. All compensation claims are handled independently and you will be billed for our services following the resolution of your case. Our fees are 35% plus VAT. This is applied to the full compensation amount which you are offered by your bank or lender following the successful settlement of your claim. If you choose to cancel the contract after the cooling off period we reserve the right to charge an administration fee.

How do I know if I bought PPI

It can be difficult to find out if you have been paying PPI and if so, how much. PPI can be included in various products from different providers including Accident, Sickness and Unemployment cover, cover, Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance and Credit Card Repayment Protection. Luckily our advisers are experts at identifying PPI payments on credit agreements and statements.

If you are unsure if you have PPI then please contact us on 0800 408 3847

What happens if my claim is rejected?

It is not uncommon for a Lender to reject your claim. If your claim is rejected and we believe you still have a strong case for compensation we can take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Can I make a claim without the help of Charterhouse?

Yes. However many people choose to use a claims management company because they don’t want the hassle of making a claim themselves.
